Maxabout.com Advertising Guidelines

  1. Advertiser's advertising environment must be appropriate in the context of Maxabout.com Network on which Advertiser's advertising content shall appear. The advertising environment includes the advertising content itself and the specific destination URL. In addition to the content guidelines listed below, Advertisers must have a privacy policy that is clearly posted either on the landing page from the advertisement or on the Advertiser's home page. If the privacy policy is found only on the home page, there must be a link to the home page from the landing page. Where the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") applies, Advertisers must take appropriate measures to ensure that they are COPPA compliant.
  2. Maxabout.com must approve all advertising content prior to posting. Once advertising content has been posted on the Maxabout.com sites, Maxabout.com shall have the right to remove previously approved advertising content from Maxabout.com if Maxabout.com later determines that Advertiser's advertising does not meet Maxabout.com's standards or comply with Maxabout.com's policies.
  3. Below are the Maxabout.com content guidelines regarding advertising materials.


Inappropriate Advertising

Advertising content that is inappropriate for all Maxabout.com Sites:
  1. Tobacco - cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, etc. and except for anti-smoking campaigns approved by Maxabout.com.
    Guns - firearms, bullets, etc.
  2. Non-FDA Drugs - Sites providing prescription drugs over the Internet - either without a prescription, or by providing a prescription themselves.
  3. Applied to Canadian, Mexican and other offshore pharmacies; also, sites that promote links to them.
  4. Applied to sites promoting banned or experimental pharmaceuticals that have not received FDA approval; for instance (but not exclusively).
  5. Pornography
  6. Defamatory, Threatening, Libelous - Maxabout.com supports the idea of the Internet as a broad forum for the sharing of ideas and information; however, advertisements for web sites espousing racial or religious epithets, advocating physical harm against people or their property, or making blatantly false claims will not be trafficked.
  7. Bad language, body parts, proxies for bad language
  8. Gambling (except for Gambling related sites) - Gambling sites are those that accept wagers or require payment in exchange for the chance to win prizes, as well as sites that offer information or links related primarily to the promotion of gambling.
  9. Applied to online casinos, sites with links to online casinos.
  10. Not applied to sites with general travel resources for Las Vegas, Atlantic City, etc.
  11. Not applied to gambling recovery programs.
  12. Misleading language - using the word "free" in the advertisement to describe a contest or sweepstakes prize.
  13. Fake IDs - Even if web sites include a disclaimer such as "novelty items only".
  14. Excessive blinking or shaking creative
  15. "System Errors" - any ad that mimics a system message of any sort will be rejected unless the word "Advertisement" is conspicuously included.
  16. Black boxes/cable descramblers - Products that may facilitate illegal activity such as pirating cable television.
    Work-at-home services and multilevel marketing
  17. Email extraction software
  18. Appz, Warez, Crackz, Hackz, etc. - Sites that sell cracked or pirated software, or promote the cracking or pirating of software are banned.

Run of Network / Children Related Guidesites

In addition to the advertising content listed above, the following are also inappropriate for Maxabout.com Run of Network Advertising and Maxabout.com Children Related Guidesites:
  1. Liquor of any kind (hard, beer, wine)
  2. Adult-oriented prescription drugs (e.g. Viagra, etc.)
  3. Any prescription drugs, vitamins or dietary supplements
  4. Graphic violence
  5. Contraceptives
  6. Death (funeral homes, mortuaries)
  7. Politics (lobbyists, PAC sites, political campaigns, alternative lifestyles advocacies)
  8. Ads for "R" rated movies
  9. Ads for "M" rated video games
  10. Sensationalism (killer bees, gossip, aliens, scandal, etc.)
  11. Creative that could frighten or upset young children or the parents of young children
  12. Content that is otherwise inappropriate for children

Subject for Review

Advertising content that may be considered inappropriate by Maxabout.com and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis:
  • Involves a direct business competitor of Maxabout.com
  • Unauthorized or unapproved use of Maxabout.com's creative
  • Unreasonable or highly unlikely product or service claims
  • Double entendres
  • A copy or parody of current or past Maxabout.com advertising content
  • Controversial topics (social issues, etc.)
  • An implied affiliation or favored status with Maxabout.com

Advertising Content

The advertising content must be clearly identifiable as an advertisement and may not be disguised as editorial content, as determined by Maxabout.com.

Advertisers must fulfill the advertised offer as stated in the advertisement, including without limitation, not altering any offer periods, product offers or prices that are stated in the advertisement; unless Advertiser has obtained Maxabout.com's prior approval.

Personal Information

Where personal information is solicited on the Advertiser's landing page:

  1. Any collection of personal information must be in full compliance with all privacy laws, including COPPA where applicable.
  2. Advertiser must clearly explain to the guest how Advertiser will use the personal information collected.
  3. Advertiser must provide all guests with an alternate user experience that doesn't require submitting personal information.
